Have you ever made a specific request at a restaurant, only to get a hilarious response from the kitchen?
While looking through my old photos, I found this picture of a sliced tomato and immediately remembered a funny dinner story. We were eating out at a popular chain restaurant—you know, the famous steakhouse that prides itself on having an in-house butcher. I ordered a salad and politely asked if the kitchen could prepare it without the tomato seeds.
The waitress came back with a blunt response: "The cook said he doesn't have time to pick out each seed!" Sometimes you just have to laugh!
The truth is, deseeding a tomato is incredibly easy and takes seconds. Removing the watery seeds is the secret to keeping your salads, salsas, and tacos from getting soggy.
How to quickly deseed a tomato:
Slice the tomato in half vertically.
Scoop out the seeds using a small spoon.
Slice or dice the firm tomato flesh according to your recipe!
