I stumbled upon this Frita Burger hack, when I made a sandwich, using leftover meatloaf.  It tasted just like the Frita Burger I ate, at the legendary Porto’s Bakery in Glendale.

One bite of their Frita Burger, and I was a fan. I had one on my way into Los Angeles, and a few days later, I was back at Porto’s Bakery, for another, on my way out.

To discover the meatloaf sandwich tastes like a Frita Burger is a major win! It just needs condiments, like mayonnaise and barbecue sauce. What makes the sandwich special, is the shoestring potatoes.

I do plan on making the original Frita Burger, but for now, this Frita Burger made with leftover meatloaf  is hitting!

FRITA BURGER (USING LEFTOVER MEATLOAF)

INGREDIENTS:
1 Brioche hamburger bun
5 Ounces leftover Meatloaf
1 Slice American cheese
2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
3 Tablespoons Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce, divided
2 Tablespoons fried onions, optional
1/4 Cup shoestring potatoes

DIRECTIONS:
Place sliced meatloaf, on a microwave safe plate. Top meatloaf with sliced cheese. Microwave for 1 minute. Set aside. Spread mayo on the inside, of both buns. To the bottom bun add: bbq sauce, fried onions, and shoestring potatoes. Top with meatloaf. Add extra bbq sauce over meatloaf and cheese. Place top bun to complete sandwich.

One serving of this Frita Burger (using a 5-ounce slice of leftover meatloaf) contains approximately 935 calories, 36g protein, 66g carbohydrates, and 58g fat (14g saturated). It also delivers 1,840mg sodium, 3g fiber, and 26g sugar, blending the base values of the turkey-sausage loaf with a rich brioche bun, creamy mayo, sweet barbecue sauce, and crunchy shoestring potatoes.
